Multi-phase renovation was performed on this magnificent Philadelphia landmark on the Schuylkill River. The project involved reclamation of the seawall for construction of an Interpretative Center, unearthing 100 CY of bedrock for construction of a 200 seat restaurant, rehabilitation of the promenade, walks, and all building facades. Structural repairs were made and new mechanical and electrical systems were installed.
Restoration of Historic Engine House included restoring all existing stonework and installation of a new driveway and historical balustrade.
Construction of the Interpretive Center included interactive, high-tech exhibits, bold graphics, a laboratory and auditorium that and will attract 100,000 visitors yearly. Reviewed by National Park Service, Pennsylvania State Preservation Office and Fairmount Park Commission.
